I wanted to start this website for a long time for my beloved pets and finally did it after I had to put my buddy Felix to rest on December 26th, 2019 around 2:15 PM. Felix was a really cool cat that I rescued while volunteering at a cat shelter and was about 8 years old. He became sick in the shelter and lost a lot of weight and was being cared for at the shelter by the person who owned it but he really needed medical attention from a vet. I took Felix to the vet and told the owner that I felt Felix couldn’t stay in the shelter for medical care.
The owner, as well as some friends I knew, were telling me that I should just put Felix to rest but I knew Felix was a fighter and loved life so did everything I could to help him. He was only 3 lbs and I was worried but with my advocacy, I had requested that the vet bring in a specialist to do an ultrasound to see what was going on in Felix’s body after determining from a blood test that he had Hepatic Lipidosis and went through surgery to put a hole in his neck to force-feed him.
The Ultrasound determined he had a Pancreatic issue and once known it was a matter of pain management and getting the inflammation down. Felix started feeling better and has been with his sister Molly and me for 15 years which made him 23 years old. In the past year, Felix started getting seizures and blackouts, and was very hard to see that happening to him. His Thyroid level was very high and with herbs and man-made medications it didn’t come down but there were good days for Felix who loved life and I’m glad that the past 15 years have been a blessing for him.
I took Felix to be cremated on December 27th at a place called Pet Lawn and they handled him with dignity. I went to Pet Lawn today to get Felix on December 31st and they put his ashes in a lovely urn cube I ordered on three of the sides, I can put pictures of him and his two sisters. Felix has sisters at home which are Molly and Bella who miss him and he would want them to be in the urn with him when the time comes. I got Felix’s paw print in clay and they took his black and white fur in a little bag for me to remember him.
I’m glad to have Felix home on the last day of the year 2019 and will cherish him always going into 2020 and beyond. Felix and I want to thank St. Francis Animal Hospital for all their help and the beautiful condolence card. He was definitely Felix the Cat the Wonderful Wonderful Cat.
